When two cities come together, beautiful things happen. Heart of Biddeford and Saco Main Street, with the support of amazing partners and sponsors, are collaborating to make the 2017 River Jam Festival the best celebration of life on the Saco River!

Join us in the heart of Biddeford and Saco’s downtown and mill districts for FREE family fun, great music, food trucks, entertainment and much more!

FRIDAY SEPT. 15

6-10:30 p.m. Battle of the Bands, Saco Island Behind Run of the Mill (New!)
Presented by Yesah Digital and Bottom of the River Sound, the Battle of the Bands is an exciting competition for bands with the majority of their members under 25 years of age. Youth, high school, college and beyond will compete for a prize package that includes professional recording studio time, a music video, and cash!  CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE INFO YOU NEED TO SIGN YOUR BAND UP! (Non-alcohol event.)

4-10 p.m. Fringe Fest, Shevenell Park, 147 Main Street, Biddeford
Art, beer, music, food, and more! In Shevenell Park, take in a temporary public art installation coordinated by Maine Center for Creativity, enjoy a beverage from Banded Horn, Dirigo Brewing, and Barreled Souls, and enjoy live music by soul revival band, The Youngerbloods (out of Norway, Maine). On Main Street, enjoy exhibits for National Park(ing) Day where groups take over parking spots and convert them to active spaces for pedestrians. Go spot to spot and grab a bite from one of our participating restaurants: Palace Diner, Cowbell, Portland Pie, Biscuits & Co., (and others TBA). Or, get your bike fixed by the Community Bike Center’s Bike Doctor, reimagine Shevenell Park with Engine’s designers, check out the wheat paste murals, write your dream on the Before I Die Wall, play some games, find out what Ferry Beach Parks Association offers, and check out live printmaking with Pickwick Press from Portland.

5-9 p.m. Influx: A Multimedia Installation Event at the Pepperell Mill Campus
During this Grand Opening, patrons will be able to explore artwork that is inspired by the past, present and future of the mill, the natural elements of the nearby river and ocean, as well as the activities of the people in the mill and surrounding urban areas. Artists will be present at the opening event, and an event map will be available to guide patrons to explore the installations and to become familiar with the mill campus and area businesses.

Daytime, Mechanics Park and Water Street, Biddeford
8 a.m.        River Jam 5K (starts at Clifford Park in Biddeford). More info and Registration here. Register by Aug. 30 for your free River Jam 5K tech t-shirt!

10 a.m. River Jam “Dash to the Sea” Kayak and Canoe Race. Registration and information right here for the recreational 4-miler and competitive 8-miler. Register by Aug. 30 for your free River Jam t-shirt!

Noon-4 p.m.  Family Fun and Engine’s Maker’s Market in Mechanics Park
Enjoy an entire afternoon with amazing entertainment from Sellam Circus, a curated Makers Market, a 95-foot long inflatable obstacle course, BBQ favorites, and activity/food tents by local non-profits! Great musical entertainment by BillyBilly from Noon-2 p.m. and more to come!

Noon- 4 p.m. Boating On the Saco River! Rumery’s Boat Yard.
Get out on the Saco River! We’ll have kayaks, canoes and life jackets so you can see the shores of Biddeford and Saco right from the Saco River.

Evening, Saco Island (Behind Run of the Mill). 

4 p.m.      Gates open on Saco Island, Food trucks and Run of the Mill Beer Tent ready to go!
